Prioritizing You Pays Off!

For the past six months, I’ve been working extremely hard. The universe said this season would be about work work work *cue Rihanna*. I can confirm the universe did. not. lie! I was laser-focused on my personal and professional growth this season. I even paused personal travel for 6 months! You can probably imagine how much sacrifice that took… LOL

In this season of diligence & transformation, I felt myself evolving and I wanted that evolution to be reflected in my personal brand. As you can see Ladopevie is now The Dope Bohemian, which I feel is more aligned to who I am (and easier to pronounce🤣).

In January, I set some really big goals for myself, both personally and professionally. One of my major goals was to be promoted to a Director at my tech firm, which was a very lofty goal because I needed to prove myself to a brand new leadership team. Well, the universe delivered the right opportunity for me to show them what I’m made of and I’m happy to report, I was promoted to Director in October! I successfully lead a global IT project that makes our sales team’s lives easier through automation! I’m really proud of what my team and I were able to pull off in record time. This is the power of manifestation, write down your goals and aspirations, then watch the universe line up opportunities for you to receive it all! If you’re willing to put in the work, nothing will be denied to you.

This promotion was my biggest professional accomplishment by far, and I am happy I took some time to celebrate with family and friends! It’s important to take a moment to smell the roses before we rush after the next goal. I also celebrated with a 3-week solo trip back to Thailand and Bali after my promotion was announced to unplug, relax and restore myself. It was everything I needed and more!

This year, I also set a personal goal of getting into the best shape of my life and NOT sacrificing my wellness when my workload increased. I can truly say I honored that commitment to myself and I’m all the better for it. I’m fitter, stronger and more flexible than I’ve ever been.

In the past when life got demanding, my health and fitness were always the first to drop off my priority list. I believed the lie that I kept telling myself… that I didn’t have enough time. This time around, I put myself first and this made all of the difference in the world. We always make time for who and what is important to us. Ask yourself, who is more important than you?

My commitment to my personal wellbeing gave me the fuel I needed to push through on those challenging days when hours were long and stress was high.  I was able to work longer and harder while maintaining my sanity (most days lol) because I started each day with a solid foundation of restorative sleep, yoga, meditation, and healthy foods. Even with all the flights I took for work this year, I never got sick. Not once. It’s amazing how much more we can accomplish & how much better our bodies feel when we actually take care of ourselves.

What I’ve grown to realize is that there is nothing more important in life than the way we treat ourselves. Everything begins and ends with us. How can we give the world our best, when we’re not even giving ourselves what we need to be our best? If you feel you’re not worthy of the best from yourself, it’s time to get to the bottom of why so you can heal and move to a place of self-love.

Here are 5 ways I prioritized my wellness during my busy season:

  • I went to bed earlier so I could wake up early to start my days mindfully
  • I blocked out my calendar every morning to exercise and meditate
  • I kept healthy meals on hand & avoided unhealthy “convenient” foods
  • I made time to connect with my friends & loved ones
  • I protected my energy from negativity & spent time in nature
